Wine Description
The DD Grenache is a blend of Grenache fruit from the two terroirs of DOWIE DOOLE; 1955 planted vines on the sandy slopes of the Dowie Vineyard and 1965 planted bush-vine Grenache on the ancient rocks of the Doole Vineyard.
The wine is crafted using the gentlest handling possible, destemmed, not crushed, and open-fermented using only hand plunging. The maturation in oak is kept short; only old oak is used to preserve grenache’s natural perfume of fruits. A lifted bouquet expressing hallmark Grenache characters; strawberry, raspberry and boiled lollies. The palate shows crunchy red fruit with a gentle tannin line.

Winemaker's Bio
Chris Thomas became DOWIE DOOLE's Chief Winemaker in 2011. Over his winemaking career, he has gained a wealth of experience working for wineries, including Fox Creek and Serafino Wines in McLaren Vale also Domaine Changarnier in Burgundy.
Wine Australia acknowledged Chris' commitment and passion for Australian wine in 2019; he graduated from the Wine Australia Future Leaders Programme.
