The Gundagai wine region lies between the Snowy Mountains and the warm, dry plains of the Riverina. It’s less than two hours from Canberra and four from Sydney.
Winters are quite cool, while summers are hot and can be dry. Conditions are coolest in the region’s south east, which is closest to the Snowy Mountains.
Soils are mainly red earth, although soils along the major rivers and creeks are more variable.
