Wine Description
Our certified organic and biodynamic Warboys Vineyard is located in the heart of McLaren Vale and is home to our oldest Shiraz vines. The stunning vineyard is just five kilometres from the coast and planted on both the north and south facing slopes of a small winter creek.
Rich, bright, vibrant purple with intense magenta hues. Opulent, brooding aromas of ripe red
fruits, hints of chocolate, spice and pepper and the promise of things to come. Luscious and
seductive plum and red berry notes with blackberry, spice and dark chocolate. Restrained
at first but opening up to showcase complex layers of flavour and intensity with great tannin
structure and deft use of French Oak.

Winemaker's Bio
Tony Ingle was born in England in 1963 and initially pursued a career in finance, studying Economics at London University. A career in Japanese and American merchant banks ensued, mostly dealing with Latin American debt.
In 1990, he travelled to California and Australia and discovered a passion for wine. He first found a job in the London wine trade and then came his first vintage stint at Chapel Down Winery in East Sussex. This was followed by Domaines Virginie in France’s Languedoc, where he worked with Australian winemaker John Weeks. Vintages in Australia followed by France every 6 months meant experience in Victoria at Tahbilk, The Loire, Bordeaux, and Languedoc as well as Padthaway and McLaren Vale with the famous Tintara cellars. In 1998 the Ingle family moved to Renmark, working at the Renmano winery whilst studying oenology at Adelaide University.
In late 2002 Tony moved to Angove's in time for his 15th vintage – a long way from his banking career in 1990.
Living and working in South Australia did not mean forgetting the old winemaking traditions of Europe and during one visit to Priorat in 2005 standing on Alvaro Palacios’ Finca Dofi a curiosity about organic and biodynamic winemaking coalesced.
John Angove’s vision to move to organic grape production and premium McLaren Vale winemaking allowed Tony to further his interest in natural grape growing and small batch winemaking of exceptional parcels of Mclaren Vale Shiraz and Grenache.
Visits to The Rhone and Rioja further influenced Tony’s desire to produce exceptional table wines, influenced by Marc Chapoutier in Hermitage, La Nerthe in Chateauneuf, and smaller organic producers, the Alarys at Domaine de L’Oratoire and the Aremenier sisters at Domaine Marcou in the southern Rhone and Stephane Ogier in Cote Rotie have inspired Tony to push the wines his team are crafting in McLaren Vale.
Since the first vintage of the Flagship Medhyk Shiraz in 2008 the Angove family have increased their presence in McLaren Vale, becoming one of the regions most important grape growers and buyers of fruit, the organic grape growing philosophy has lead to them being an Australian leader of organic wine production.
