Winemaker's Bio
Jonathan Creek "Jono", Senior Winemaker, joined the Zilzie winemaking team as Operations Winemaker just in time for vintage in the January of 2005. Having completed a Bachelor of Science (Oenology) at the University of Adelaide, Jono worked overseas for several vintages gathering experience in small ultra premium wineries throughout Europe and Australia right through to working for one of the world’s largest wineries in the USA on a quality and optimisation team.
Jonathan has played an integral role in the expansion of Zilzie wines over the past 19 years. He is responsible for leading our quality driven winemaking team; who explore new techniques and craft fruit forward wines from our own premium vineyards as well as selectively sourced parcels from regions such as the Barossa, King Valley, Yarra Valley, Adelaide Hills & McLaren Vale.
Jonathan has been on tasting panels for WineState Magazine and a judge at a number of Australian wine shows including the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show. Jono is passionate about making wines that are a true reflection of each variety and it’s region as well as emerging grape varieties, quality and precision.
