Wine Description
Fruit for this Riesling was sourced from two unique vineyards in the Watervale subregion of the Clare Valley, where the vines are rooted in red loam over limestone. The wine displays delicate, complex aromas of lemon thyme, bath salts and talc, which open up to more pronounced floral, lime and green apple aromatics. The palate is concentrated and delicate with generous flavours of lime and grapefruit pith complemented by hints of citrus blossom, lemongrass, ginger and perfume. Fine, steely acidity combined with pithy texture and refreshing flavour result in a moreish wine that drinks well now but will reward cellaring.
Winemaker's Bio
As Winemaker Adam Barton tells it, he first discovered the magic of wine while working in the Hunter Valley, in a glass of 1965 Lindemans Hunter River Burgundy. After studying Oenology at the University of Adelaide, he embarked on a winemaking career that so far spans two decades and three continents, with work in McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, the Barossa Valley, Western Australia, the south of France and California’s Central Coast.
Adam’s winemaking approach for Atlas Wines is typified by careful curation and nurturing of the highest-quality grapes, the utmost care and attention to detail, and minimal intervention.
