Wine Description
The 2018 'The Crossing' Shiraz is the premium product of a delightful vintage from the Turners Crossing vineyard at Serpentine, Central Victoria.
The shiraz fruit is from low yielding vines and was harvested at the appropriate time to ensure optimum balance, ripeness and intensity of flavour.
The fruit was transferred without de-stemming, to open fermenters on arrival at the winery, where it remained for 3 weeks; plunged and pumped over 3 times per day, every day. The resultant product was then pressed and subject to a brief period of malolactic fermentation in French oak Hogsheads, before being racked and returned to oak for 17 months maturation. The wine was gently filtered prior to bottling.
Accolades
2018 'The Crossing': 94 points
The company's premium shiraz comes in a heavy bottle, cork and wax seal. Built large, this big, ripe shiraz delivers something for everyone. Bursting in ripened plums, licorice, earth, sweet spiced oak, and there's even a waft of eucalypt, too. It's warm and rich to taste, the toasty oak and spice rolling in across a palate of supple tannins. Will definitely build further.
