Wine Description
An elegant medium-bodied rosato made from Sangiovese & Nebbiolo. With a varietal pale onion skin colour, this savoury, European style sees the sangiovese crushed & pressed immediately in the winery. The nebbiolo is left on skins overnight to extract tannin & colour before saignée, with both varieties fermented separately in old French oak barriques & matured for six months with stirring 1-2 times during ageing. An enticing, food-friendly combination – the sangiovese provides bright, sweet raspberry & cranberry fruit character, complemented by the acidity & tannin weight of the saignée.
Winemaker's Bio
With a 42-year career in the Yarra Valley & Heathcote, Mario Marson is one of Australia’s most experienced winemakers. For 17 years Mario was winemaker & viticulturalist at the renowned Mount Mary, working alongside the late Dr John Middleton. A formative experience, these years gave Mario a valuable understanding of the technical & creative skills required to produce premium, multiclonal wine. The other half of this dynamic father/daughter winemaking duo, Assistant winemaker Madeleine Marson is an emerging vigneron with a strong pedigree in research & holistic approach to winemaking & viticulture. Together they craft Italian varietals with personality & charm.
