Produced only in select vintages, ‘The Rover’ is our
most premium expression of Cabernet Franc. Made
from low-yielding, hand harvested fruit, it is crafted
with precision from start to finish. Matured in fine
French oak, it shows redcurrant, herbs and violets
with silky tannins and remarkable length. Powerful
yet composed, this is Cabernet Franc at its most
elegant and expressive.
Winemaker's Bio
Peter Mackey
I started making wine in China in 2003. I was consulting to Chateau Junding on their vineyards and wine styles and helped design their winery. I would visit every year for the harvest, then reciprocate by bringing winemakers and viticulturists to Chile
and Australia.
During the 22 years traveling in and out of China I’ve also consulted on other projects, sat on tasting panels and was selected for the Ningxia wine challenge - where 50 winemakers from around the world went to Ningxia province in the Gobi desert in 2015, I had 4 visits over 2 years to make wine at a selected winery. I was awarded a silver medal at the awards ceremony.
