The founders of Barokes developed the world's first globally patented system (Vinsafe) of producing and packaging quality wine in a can. It is only through the use of Vinsafe that it is possible to can with successfully so that it remains stable with a shelf-life in excess of 12 months. Barokes quality wines are endorsed by Australian Master of Wine, Peter Scudamore-Smith who souces the wines and manages blending/structure/profiling and taste utilising his experience in global wine product development and quality assurance/control. Barokes wines have been awarded in excess of 400 medal at international wine competitions, inlcuidng many trophies, platinum, best in class and gold medals. Barokes wines in a can are aimed at a new generation of wine consumers interested in quality, convenience, a cool, unique, stylish and safe product which comes in a fully recyclable, sustaining packaging format which fits their on the go lifestyles.

Winemaker Bio
Master of Wine, Peter Scudamore-smith has worked with Barokes since 2003. Peter's unique blend of experience in food technology, wine technology and wine blending provides services to Barokes Wines as well as expanding the Vinsafe canned wine technology. Furthermore, his product development skills contribute towards innovative new age wine packaging and additional wine flavour profile selection.
In 1990 Peter gained a Rosemount Travelling Bursary to study for the Master of Wine exam. He gained the ultimate honour of Master of Wine (Institute of Masters of Wine, London) Australia’s second, the following year, and is an established international wine authority. He has experience in the wine industries of Australia, New Zealand, some Spanish regions and southern France. He has traded in wines from these countries and has winemaking knowledge from France and Spain. Since graduation he has mentored and encouraged other Australians to gain this international vocational award. He has figured prominently in expanding the seminars.
Peter’s acute sensory skills are well recognised in both coffee and wine circles. He has participated in over seventy international, national and local wine shows, as well as judged Yalumba’s Sommelier of the Year Awards and Winestate Magazine’s Wine of the Year Awards. He has a culinary reputation in theming wine with foods. He has widespread experience in the sensory aspects of foods through his previous food technology profession, including coffee assessment in New Guinea and Switzerland. He has judged at the annual RAS New South Wales Coffee Awards and has extensive experience in gastronomy.
