Elderton Wines
Barossa , South Australia
Winery Overview
Elderton Wines is proudly owned by the Ashmead family in Australia’s picturesque Barossa Valley and offers some of the best Barossa wines that the region has to offer. With a philosophy of winemaking that has stayed with us throughout the years, our vision is to create excellence from distinguished vineyard sites. Our flagship wines, the Command Shiraz and Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon are renowned single vineyard wines, sourced from vineyards that date back to 1894 and 1944 respectively.
Today, Elderton runs three vineyards that highlight the individual terroirs of the region through a wide range of varietals; Nuriootpa supplies most of our flagship wines; Greenock provides the power and vines dating back to 1915; and finally, Eden Valley offers elegance. From the three vineyard sites, Elderton’s aim is to make balanced wines that can be enjoyed young but will stand the test of time.

Winemaker Bio
Julie Ashmead - Head of Production – Viticulture & Winemaking
Jules took the newly created position of Head of Production, overseeing both viticulture and winemaking at Elderton in July 2019.
She was inducted into the Barons of Barossa in 2017. Jules is also the fifth-generation winemaker at Campbells of Rutherglen and has worked vintages around the world.
Brock Harrison - Winemaker
Brock joined the Elderton team in August 2019. He likes rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty, whilst collaborating with the viticultural team to ensure our vineyards are nurtured in a way that ensures we continue to produce high quality fruit expressive of the terroir. Once in the winery, the winemaking team are the guardians of quality and it is their job to ensure preservation of the inherent vineyard characteristics through the winemaking process, that is ultimately reflected in the finished product.
Brock’s philosophy on wine is simple “you are only as good as your next wine”, which drives him to always strive for continuous improvement in everything we do.
