Forester Estate - Small scale and super premium
As you drive through the huge eucalypt trees in the northern Margaret River region of Yallingup, Western Australia you might be surprised to see a large European-style castle peeping through the greenery. It’s a clear indication that Forester Estate is not your average winery. This boutique winery makes its wines inside a castle and produces premium and ultra-premium wines.
The family-run winery was established in 2001 by local Margaret River vigneron Kevin McKay and his wife Jenny. The idea was to build a specialized boutique winery to produce premium wines.

Luckily, the climate of the Yallingup sub-region combined with the vineyards Forester Estate use, means exceptional quality fruit is a regular occurrence. Yallingup has lower rainfall and higher sunshine than the southern end of the Margaret River region, and produces riper, fruitier white wines and finely structured, elegant reds. Forester Estate prides itself on using small unique vineyard blocks to make its premium and ultra-premium wines. Kevin and fellow winemaker Todd Payne use new technology alongside proven traditional winemaking techniques to ensure the quality grown in the vineyard is preserved in the finished product.
