The Strathbogie Ranges are located 100 kilometres north of Melbourne and recognised as a truly distinct, high-altitude and cool climate region that produces intense, elegant wines, full of character. Fowles family estate vineyards are situated 430 – 550 metres above sea level and the ancient, nutrient poor and free-draining soils are characterised by giant granite boulders over 360 million years old. The family owned estate vineyards have a wide variety of plantings including Shiraz, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Arneis, Vermentino, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, and Mourvedre.
The Fowles family have lived in the Strathbogie Ranges since the 1800s, and Fowles Wine is currently led by CEO, Matt Fowles. The Fowles’ rich family history of vignerons, hunters and farmers is embedded in their winemaking which is guided by two clear philosophies; to produce regional wines which truly reflect a sense of place and make delicious food wines which showcase a sense of style and are crafted to match with specific foods. Fowles produce a range of wines from small batch icon wines to everyday drinking wines. Their well-known and award winning brands include:
Ladies who Shoot Their Lunch - A range of premium, flagship wines, inspired by the environment of our high altitude home, that have been crafted to complement the textures and flavours of wild food. Vibrant in colour, intensely aromatic and known for complexity, character and pristine fruit flavours, these wines are a window into the wild for the curious, instinctive and discerning. The Shiraz was recently named in the 2020 Top 100 Wines of Wine Spectator USA.
