Winery Overview
Hollydene Estate Wines is a multi-generational, family-owned, boutique wine-producing business located in the rich Upper Hunter Valley Wine region of NSW, Australia. Since being redeveloped under the current ownership structure in 2003, the business has expanded steadily from operating as a single-vineyard grape grower into its’ current form – a successful wine producer with cellar door and award-winning restaurant.
The Estate is situated on the site of the original Arrowfield Estate, first established in 1823, and the current winery encompasses a diverse history with some of the oldest and most unique vineyards in the region including: Wybong (est. 1965), Hollydene (est. 1965), Arrowfield (est. 1968) and the cooler climate vineyard of Mullamuddy located in the central west region of NSW. Nestled between the internationally recognised thoroughbred breeding operations of Coolmore and Godolphin Hollydene is strategically located, being only1.5 hour’s travel time from Newcastle, the largest seaboard export terminal in Australia
Hollydene Estate annually produces about 140,000 bottles of high-quality wines spanning 17 varieties, including: Chardonnay (oaked and unoaked), Semillon and Shiraz – wines synonymous with the Hunter Valley, whilst our 2008 Blanc de Blancs has been winner of numerous awards including Best Sparkling in Australia 2018, 2019 & 2020). Although primarily Australian focused, with grape growing, viticulture, wine production and bottling all taking place in the Hunter Valley area, the owners are keen to expand overseas and are working closely with Austrade and NSW Trade and Investment to identify new markets. James Halliday has rated Hollydene a 4.5 Star Winery.
