Mount Horrocks Wines
Clare Valley , South Australia
Winery Overview
Over the past 29 years, Mount Horrocks Wines, under Stephanie Toole’s direction, has shifted from purchasing all grapes to planting its own vineyards, becoming 100% estate grown and for the entire wine production to come under organic and biodynamic certification.
With vineyards hand-tended, all fruit carefully hand-picked and winemaking hands-on, Stephanie avoids the need for wine finings, meaning the wines are also vegan and vegetarian friendly.
However, this approach has not just been taken to meet the growing awareness of environment and our impact on it, rather it has been driven by Stephanie’s passion to produce sublime, lingering, beautiful wines.
Mount Horrocks wines are beautiful expressions of variety and place. They are, of course, unique. Yet the consistency in quality both across the range and from season to season, is Mount Horrocks’ hallmark, something Stephanie attributes to her absolute control over the vineyard operation and winemaking.
As Stephanie says: ‘Mount Horrocks wines are hand-made, 100% estate grown, organic and biodynamic, vegan and vegetarian friendly, and delicious!’

Winemaker Bio
Born in New Zealand, Stephanie Toole developed a passion for fine wine while working in London. After moving to Perth in the 1980’s, this fascination became the focus of her work, starting her own wine business.
In 1992 Stephanie moved to South Australia and within months, had purchased a tiny winery operation. Originally with real ‘cottage industry’ feel, Mount Horrocks Wines has remained tiny in production, yet bold in its approach.
Typical of so many Australians, Stephanie started life somewhere else, was inspired by the produce of other countries, but now makes wines that she believes are worthy and true expressions of the place where she lives.
