Winery Overview
Ricca Terra Farms is a unique and truly special Australian vineyard and is one of the largest producers of alternative wine grapes varieties in Australia.
Ricca Terra’s vision was to plant, nurture and make wine from grape varieties that were best suited to Australia’s warm and dry climate.
Recognising the challenges of a changing climate early in the life of Ricca Terra, allowed Winemakers Ashley & Holly Ratcliff to pivot and begin the process of planting grape varieties that originated from wine growing regions that were similar to Australia. These regions included the southern area of Italy, Spain, France and Portugal. In stating this, some grape varieties have also been planted based on their ability to make great wine.
In 2019, Ricca Terra were awarded a five star rating in the 2020 James Halliday Wine Companion, again in 2020, and also listed in the Top 10 upcoming wineries in Australia. In 2021, Ricca Terra was the recipient of Innovative Vineyard of the Year Award in the Young Gun of Wine Vineyard of the Year Awards.
Ricca Terra is recognised for its innovation, leadership and vision, which helps contribute to the future reputation and excitement of Australian Wine.
Ricca Terra wines are vibrant and impactful, each wine has a memorable handle-bar name and colour combo. Ricca Terra brings “Rich Earth” and ancient knowledge to a new way of thinking. An alternative approach for the future.
