The region has a variety of soils, with most vineyards planted on red and brown soils derived from basalt and shale.

CHARDONNAY

The region produces elegant, cool-climate Chardonnay with citrus and melon flavours, and the potential to age well for several years or more.

RIESLING

The region’s Rieslings are crisp and fresh, with citrus flavours that develop into honeyed, toasty flavours as the wines age. 

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

These wines are elegant yet full of berry flavour. Cabernet is also blended with other red varieties.
