Climate and Altitude
The region’s warm, dry climate is influenced by altitude and the Spencer Gulf to the south. Most vineyards are on the slopes of the Flinders Ranges at 350–550 metres above sea level.
The Environment
The Southern Flinders Ranges is a diverse mountainous region extending north from the famous Clare Valley. The drive from Adelaide takes around two-and-a-half hours.
Climate
Temperatures climb quite high in summer, while winters are cool but relatively mild. Being inland, the nights are usually chilly.
Soil
The region’s fertile soils are well suited to grape growing. Soil types vary but are generally quite deep and mostly limestone based.
