House of Arras

Winery Overview
A vision to craft world class sparkling wine led Ed Carr to Tasmania.
Founded in 1995, the name ‘Arras’ means rich tapestry. For over a quarter of a century now, we have taken time to understand the rich tapestry that makes the Tasmania terroir, and our wines are a celebration and expression of this relationship.
Under the leadership of Australia’s most awarded sparkling winemaker, Ed Carr, House of Arras sources traditional varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and crafts exceptional sparkling wines from a tapestry of cool climate vineyards throughout pristine Tasmania, ideal for long, slow and consistent fruit development.
House of Arras is Australia’s most awarded sparkling wine brand with an unparalleled reputation.
Winemaker Bio
Ed Carr is one of Australia’s most awarded sparkling winemakers with more than 45 years’ experience in the Australian wine industry – 35 of these have been dedicated to sparkling wine production.
Ed has always been a firm believer that Tasmania is Australia’s best sparkling fruit resource, capable of producing sparkling wine to rival the world's finest. This was the driving force behind Ed’s decision to first produce award-winning Tasmanian prestige cuvée which evolved into House of Arras.
In 2018, Ed was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships for his contribution to the development and success of the sparkling wine industry. Ed is the only non-Champenois winemaker to have ever received this accolade; a testament to the world-class credentials of House of Arras wines.
