Winery Overview
Ocean Eight grow and make wine across two vineyards. Pinot gris, Chardonnay & Pinot Noir are planted in these vineyards and are grown and ripened each year to reflect the cool, maritime climate of the Mornington Peninsula. The wines then aim to show this unique land and weather they grow in at all costs. To complement this indigenous yeasts of the vineyard run the ferments, old oak barrels are used as vessels, and no acidification occurs to produce elegant, textural and delicious wine.

Winemaker Bio
Mike Aylward began making wine in the late 90s at his family’s winery Kooyong. Kooyong was sold in 2003, but Mike had strong ideas about the capacity of the Mornington Peninsula to produce special wines, so after 2 years of travelling Burgundy and Champagne, Ocean Eight was born in 2006 and Mike has made all the wines since its inception.
