From the coolest regions to the warmest regions, Australia’s vignerons have seized the opportunity to grow and vinify classic as well as alternative varieties. What motivates vignerons to pursue excellence with these varieties varies from seeking out a variety which offers some degree of climate change proofing, to the pure curiosity to see what a variety will produce when grown in an Australian region with a similar climate to its native region.  This masterclass promises to give you a glimpse of Australia’s wine future.

Discover Yarra Valley Pinot Noir

HKCEC Level 1, D193
15:00 - 15:40
28 May 2024

The Yarra Valley is one of Australia’s leading cool-climate regions, with varying elevations and a diverse landscape capable of producing classic styles across a range of varieties.

Yarra Valley has long been famous for producing award-winning Pinot Noir wines and is considered as one of the pioneer areas for the development of modern Pinot Noir. A continental climate with warm days and cool nights allows winemakers to retain acidity in Pinot grapes, but still extract tannin, flavour and sugar ripeness. While varying styles exist, Yarra Pinot is typically aromatic and minerally, ranging from light-bodied to more medium weight, silky and textural.
