Contentious Character
New South Wales , NSW & ACT
Winery Overview
Contentious Character is a cool-climate winery, set in the hills of Wamboin, 30km east of the capital city of Canberra. Our name pays homage to our encouragement of debate and passionate opinions, whether it’s a suggested topic of conversation on our bottle labels or a program of events at our cellar door. We stand for lively discussion and we welcome a different point of view. Contentious Character exists to build a lively community of like-minded people ever-willing to take on an alternate way of thinking – and all in the name of wine!

Winemaker Bio
Since taking over Lambert Vineyards in 2016, our winemaker, Jeremy Wilson, has put a modern twist on the wines that come from our Canberra District estate and from around NSW. Jeremy champions a minimal winemaking approach that is driven by the vineyard, seasons and what the fruit is doing. He has an exceptional understanding of what the seasons can and do impact what we grow. Over the last 6 years, he’s developed an instinctual knowledge of the optimal harvest time so he can deliver wines with great body, clean acidity and balanced tannins.
