Gomersal Wines
Barossa Valley , South Australia
Winery Overview
In 1887 a boutique winery was established in the small township of Gomersal in South Australia’s beautiful Barossa Valley and over a century later, it is now home to Gomersal Wines. The Barossa Valley is renowned throughout the world for its rich, full-bodied Shiraz, Gomersal Wines embraces the district’s time-honoured and traditional approach to winemaking. This results in wines of exquisite character and intensity, which colourfully reflect the region and surrounding environment.
The Gomersal Vineyard’s shale, quartz and Limestone soil creates idyllic grape-growing conditions that are reflected in every wine. The Vineyard consists of 42 acres of Shiraz, 2.5 acres of bush vine Grenache and 5.5 acres of bush vine Mataro and, under the careful watch of Barry White, produces fruit that is the purest and most honest reflection of the Barossa Valley soil and environment. These superb growing conditions, combined with the winemaking expertise of Peter Pollard, has helped to develop four winemaking tiers.
The Estate Shiraz is the very best expression of our vineyard producing a wine that presents elegance and restrained power, exemplified by careful aging in new French oak for 26 months. The Reserve Shiraz pays homage to the region, as a typical Barossa Valley Shiraz. It is bold, rich and powerful with luscious vanillan oak complexity derived from 3 years maturation in American oak. An eponym of our vineyard and cellar door address, the Lyndoch Road Series comprises of two red blends- Shiraz Mataro: our local, Barossan hero varieties and Shiraz Cabernet: the quintessential Australian blend. The Premium Range offers outstanding value for money with wines delivering classic Barossa Valley flavour and intrigue at terrific prices.

Winemaker Bio
Peter was introduced to the wine industry at a young age and quickly developed a passion. While studying for a degree in Oenology at the University of Adelaide, Peter completed a vintage with Peter Lehmann Wines in the Barossa Valley.
Intent on broadening his experience, Peter spent the first half of 2001 working as a contract winemaker with Simeon Wines at Loxton and then traveled to the USA to work the 2001 vintage with Geyser Peak Wines in Sonoma Valley, California. In 2001 Peter joined Langhorne Creek Winery as Assistant Winemaker and as the business expanded her was promoted to head winemaker. 2012 was Peter's first vintage with Gomersal Wines - returning to his roots and personal affiliation with the region. Peter's knowledge of the land and appreciation for the GI's various sub regions are reflected in his consistent, high quality wines.
