The story of Tahbilk is one of innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, survival and extraordinary continuity. With the celebration of 160 years in 2020, the Tahbilk story is fascinating, historical and inspiring. The Estate has the largest single planting of Marsanne vines in the world. Home to the iconic 1860 Shiraz block, Tahbilk is also home to the Purbrick family whose five generations and 135 years of family involvement is fitting for the oldest family owned winery in Victoria. Located on the Goulburn River in the Nagambie Lakes region of Victoria, the Estate’s environment and climate are dramatically influenced by the inland waterways that wind their way across the property. Producing the Rhone varietals of Marsanne, Viognier and Shiraz, the Tahbilk range also features the noble varieties of Riesling, chardonnay and cabernet, creating an accessible Estate range. Tahbilk is an Australian icon and, in the words of James Halliday AM, ‘a priceless inheritance’.
