Wine Description
The Cirillo 1850 Semillon is harvested entirely from a single vineyard. This vineyard is believed to be the oldest Semillon (Madeira) in the world, planted 1848. The fruit is handpicked early in the season normally in mid‐late Summer, ensuring natural acidity. Whole bunches are basket pressed, then the juice is then tank fermented, without oak. Cellared in bottle for 5 years before released. Pale green, almost clear in colour. Aromas are lifted lemongrass, lime and mineral characters. Fruit dominates the palate with a lean, tight structure and driven acid finish. This Semillon is the ideal balance of fruit and dryness.
