The Fruilano / Zaghet #7 is a deeply coloured & unctuous skin-contact wine made from 100% friulano (sauvignon vert). Named after winemaker Mario Marson’s grandfather Jeremia Zaghet, this experimental style plays with the phenolic weight typical of the variety using fruit grown in the Alpine Valleys of North-Eastern Victoria. Spending 7 days on skins, it possesses vibrant orange hue & enticing aroma of quince & orange blossom. On the palate its naturally high acidity is complemented by elegant phenolics & a long finish. Pair with the traditional Furlan fried onion dish frico or baked snapper.

With a 42-year career in the Yarra Valley & Heathcote, Mario Marson is one of Australia’s most experienced winemakers. For 17 years Mario was winemaker & viticulturalist at the renowned Mount Mary, working alongside the late Dr John Middleton. A formative experience, these years gave Mario a valuable understanding of the technical & creative skills required to produce premium, multiclonal wine. The other half of this dynamic father/daughter winemaking duo, Assistant winemaker Madeleine Marson is an emerging vigneron with a strong pedigree in research & holistic approach to winemaking & viticulture. Together they craft Italian varietals with personality & charm.
