Hesketh’s wonderfully entitled G.A.R. perfectly fits its component parts together with jigsaw precision and with 18 months in 35% new French oak it is seasoned to perfection, too. With the Coonawarra Cabernet bringing spice and earth and McLaren Vale’s gulf-side Shiraz adding juiciness as well as amazing ozone freshness, this is a generous wine with a unique stance on the palate. Already drinking beautifully, it shows less brawn and more succulence than many and it still has a good few years ahead of it to gather even more complexity. Great Australian Red indeed."
