Discovery Syrah 2020

Syrah is picked at moderate ripeness to retain elegance. Cool fermentation of whole berries at 20-22°C creates a partial carbonic maceration which introduces a spice element to the pure Syrah perfume. A cool climate, medium bodied and balanced Syrah. Aromas of juicy black cherries and boysenberries with a grind of black pepper. The palate possesses a fine-grained texture comprising ripe tannin which adds to the structure and depth of the wine.

Winemaker Bruce Dukes is a qualified Agronomist with a master’s degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of California. He draws on decades of local and international winemaking experience, including four years at Francis Ford Coppola’s Niebaum-Coppola winery in California and a significant tenure at Pierro Winery in Margaret River. Bruce’s time spent in California helped hone his exacting and confident approach. Bruce exudes an infectious enthusiasm and passion for his craft, making wines from the ground up. Beginning with a deep understanding of soils and sustainable farming practices, it is Bruce’s belief that a holistic approach reaps the greatest rewards, both for the wine and the environment.
