Wine Description
Planted on dramatic slopes at high elevation in the Upper Yarra Valley, Wombat Creek Vineyard has cool, extended seasons that are ideally suited to Chardonnay and produce wines of great elegance, clarity and length. This wine has been whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented with partial malolactic before maturation for 12 months in oak.
Winemaker's Bio
Peter Dillon undertook training at University of Adelaide, gaining Honours in Oenology. After graduating, Peter gained experience working vintage across several Australian wine regions: McLaren Vale, Hunter Valley, Orange, Mudgee and Tumbarumba.
In 2014 Pete joined Handpicked as Winemaker, then became Chief Winemaker in 2017. He has been based in Mornington Peninsula, Capella Vineyard leading the Winemaking team including Winemaker Jonathon Mattick and Assistant Winemaker Rohan Smith.
Pete’s not only passionate about producing favourite varietals Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, of which many are multi-award winning wines, but he’s also been working on the organic conversion process of our Tasmania & Victoria vineyards and focusing on sustainability across the vineyard, winery and beyond.
