Winery Overview
Golding Wines is situated on the outskirts of Lobethal, within the Lenswood appellation, high in the picturesque Adelaide Hills.
Their philosophy is simple; the best wines come from great vineyards and taste even better when shared in beautiful surrounds.
With this in mind their focus has always been on creating expressive and approachable cool climate wines. The style of wine to drink and share with friends: wines that ultimately speak of their place in the Adelaide Hills.
Golding Wines are passionate about their work and life in this dynamic cool climate region and firmly cement their sense of place there. The family have been working the land in Adelaide Hills for three generations.
When Darren and Lucy Golding established Golding Wines and put their first vintage to bottle in 2002 they did so with confidence knowing that the fruit sourced from the family vineyard Darren had planted with his parents Greg and Connie, seven years earlier was coming into its own.
Their Western Branch Estate remains at the very heart of their business. The vineyard is the primary fruit source for the Golding Wines range, and the home of their busy cellar door, restaurant and functions business.
Across the ancient terrain of the Adelaide Hills Region a series of ranges and valleys create the landscape and microclimates perfect for growing cool climate varieties. The slopes of the Golding’s Western Branch Vineyard in Lenswood offer many different growing aspects, allowing each variety their own place to shine. The Golding’s 40-hectare estate is home to 23 hectares of vines and soars to an elevation of 1500 ft. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are stand out varieties in these conditions. The estate managed vineyard located in Woodside comprises of 34 hectares of vines. With a lower altitude and less rainfall, this warmer site is perfect for growing Cabernet and Shiraz.
