Winery Overview
Mirus (Latin; wonderful, strange, remarkable, amazing, surprising)
Our Mirus vineyard in Marananga has a great diversity of soils and aspects. This combined with mature, healthy plantings of traditional Barossa red varieties, led us to stive to produce a series of single block wines that express this diversity in small, rare parcels with intriguing personalities.
In November 2021 our families purchased this outstanding vineyard from Peter and Jenny Neldner, Peter represented the third generation of grape growers on this site. We have 33 acres of Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon planted on a great diversity of ancient soils and aspects. From the outset we wanted to let individual blocks with personality and potential express themselves by making very small quantities of wine from the micro patches that we knew could produce outstanding wines.
Wonderground and Mirus Vineyard, is a vineyard, art gallery, cellar door and sanctuary on the Barossa Valley’s Western Ridge. It’s where two families have come together to interweave art and creative practice into the craft of winemaking. It is an exploration of our passions, art and wine, from this unique property; celebrating the wondrous nature of this site.
‘Our Wonderground range is a contemporary expression of select parcels of fruit from our source vineyards off the Marananga (Barossa Valley) and Gumeracha (Adelaide Hills) vineyards.’
