Rockcliffe Winery
Great Southern , Western Australia
Winery Overview
The Rockcliffe vineyard and winery reside on a 90-acre estate in the rich Scotsdale Valley region of Denmark in Great Southern, West Australia. The property has fertile karri loam soils and is well positioned for long afternoon sunshine. The Rockcliffe vineyard is less than 15 kilometres from the Southern Ocean which allows the sea breeze to cool the vineyard, creating the perfect conditions for the slow ripening, cool climate styles that symbolize the Great Southern. The Rockcliffe branding reflects local, seashore landscapes, which reflects our love for the ocean and how important it is to the vineyard.
The original grapes were planted in 1987, the pinot and chardonnay were the first planted in the district. The vineyard was bought by ex-oil geologist, Dr Stephen Hall, in 2001, under his enthusiastic direction, Rockcliffe underwent a refurbishment of the cellar door, and in 2007 a brand-new winery was constructed. The winery can produce over 100,000 cases of small batch, premium wine per year. Rockcliffe winery produces wine under seven tiers of labels in order to meet all customers at the price and taste they are seeking.
