Wine Description
This jewel (or should we say Julie) was found in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, truly alive. Adelaide Hills Shiraz with elegance, finesse and prettiness; let’s say our Fair Lady is as magical as The Sound of Music.
“Lively Red Cherries with spiced plums and Liquorice;
Silky soft tannins with dusts of White Pepper;
perfumed and pretty with hints of rose petals;
these are a few of our favourite things.”
– Maria von Trapp (with artistic license)

The palate is equally satisfying with a plump mouthfeel backed by fleshy texture and supple tannins, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2036.”
• 92 points – WinePilot.com, Ray Jordan, February 2025 – “An excellent example of the influence of cooler regional characters on the style of shiraz. It is medium-bodied and packs plenty of deep fruit intensity. More in the bright red cherry and juicy plum zone with a nice lick of cedary oak making a polite contribution. It’s a pretty wine with a lot to like."

From the Adelaide Hills, which may well be alive but are probably a little less covered in snow than their musical siblings, this is a most appealing cooler climate Shiraz. This has a dark garnet hue with a nose revealing aromas of aniseed, bay leaves, leather, raspberries, warm earth, cherries and dried herbs. A medium bodied wine of medium length, there are fine tannins on the finish. This is from the savoury and elegant end of the red wine spectrum. The palate shows some sour cherry notes on that lingering finish. A most attractive wine with six to eight years good drinking ahead of it."
• 92 points – WinePilot.com, Tony Love, April 2025 - "The aromatics and more obvious fruit characters in cooler climate Shiraz can be a little more elusive than from other places, and so it is here - though with some focus and patience in the tasting they do rise, here with a dark cherry, coffee and a light sniff of forest camphor, all in pleasing harmony. The palate has a lovely depth of sweet dark plum and black forest cake flavours, the overall feel evenly tempered, assured, and in popular parlance, elegant."

Rather than singing and dancing, I’d recommend drinking the wine and toasting to the celebration of life. Here you'll find the raspberry leaf, satsuma plums and boysenberry. A hint of lilac and bayleaf. It's lovely and ripe without being confected. A very slight chew to the tannins and velvety caress of fine acidity. Some sumac and nutmeg add earthy spice to the finish. A wine that would work well alongside pork meatballs and fresh tomato sugo, find your nearest Italian neighbour, they will show you how it's done.”
