Wine Description
Named after the house-cooling breeze of our ‘Lake Doctor’. These winds arrive from the Great Southern Ocean direct from Antarctica, reviving our vines and vignerons alike in the peak of summer heat.
Drink with anything off the grill (preferably charcoal that is), and especially a second glass. Not just about the fruit, it’s earthy too and what we have always loved about Langhorne Creek is they produce cracker wines – consistently!
The result is a fabulously stylish Shiraz, one which offers Five Spice, juicy Plum Pudding flavour with rolling soft, fine-grained Cedar tannin.

• Gold Medal – Sakura Japan Women's Awards 2025
• Gold Medal – Critics Challenge 2024 (USA)
• Gold Medal /94 points – San Francisco International Wine Competition 2024 (USA)
• Gold Medal – Beverage Testing Institute Wine Awards 2024 (USA) “Ruby black color. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, eucalyptus, rosemary and white pepper, and tea with a velvety, lively, dry medium body and a warming, interesting, medium-length finish that exhibits nuances of blackberry, leather and white pepper, menthol, and red and black cherry with herbs with crunchy, chewy tannins and light oak flavor. A big Shiraz that stays in balance and doesn’t become heavy while still showing good complexity; a natural pairing for rare steak or herb crusted lamb.”
• 93 points, WinePilot.com – Ken Gargett, Nov 2024, “So many fabulous reds from Langhorne Creek sneak under the radar and this is yet another, although previous vintages have been so impressive that there should be queues for every release. Named after the cooling breeze which originates down in Antarctica, and which is called the Lake Doctor (cricket fans will be familiar with the Fremantle Doctor which cools the grounds in the afternoon, although when the practice of calling breezes ‘doctor’ first emerged, I have no idea), this is all about flavour and simply being delicious. The wine spends time maturing in a combination of both French and American oak barrels. Dark maroon hue, this is a wine of concentration and rich flavours with plums, chocolate, black fruits, smoked meats, leather and licorice. A supple texture gives way to sleek tannins. This is a wine of decent length which will drink well for six to eight years. Cracking value.”
