Wine Description
This is the 18th vintage of our flagship varietal Shiraz. This is a powerful expression of Langhorne Creek's old vines. the cool-climate offers great palate length, spice and complexity while allowing enough sunshine hours to deliver all the fruit intensity Australia is famous for. This is a restrained interpretation of Australian exuberance. Vines well in excess of 40 years of age contribute to a wine of great depth and complexity.
Directors' Cut Shiraz was Ben Glaetzer's first commercial release from Langhorne Creek back in 2001. Ben's family's history in 'The Creek' stretches back to the early 1970s and his experience with and knowledge of the vines is a strong ingredient in Heartland's success. Directors' Cut is a masterclass in quiet power and the wine's sheer presence speaks to a deep and profound knowledge of the region.
