Owned and operated by sisters Jane Richards and Claire Davies, the vineyard is located in Wrattonbully, South Australia. As part of South Australia’s Limestone Coast Wine Region, Wrattonbully is famous for its free-draining Terra Rossa soils, ideal for producing premium wine grapes. The vineyard has been supplying premium grapes to some of Australia’s most iconic wine labels since 1995. Labels such as Penfolds, Orlando and Taylors. Starting in 2005, Jane and Claire began keeping a careful selection of the highest quality fruit for themselves. Expertly guided by their multi-award-winning Winemaker, Peter Douglas, they produced wines for the family to enjoy. Eight at the Gate Wines, named after the morning ritual of assembling their eight children “at the gate” in time for the school bus. With three generations of family involved, these women are producing wines that are winning hearts, palates, and awards around the world. Eight at the Gate, made with passion, resolve…and a touch of chaos!
