Though Living Roots was founded in 2016, our legacy began in 1853 with Thomas Hardy, our co-owner and head winemaker Sebastian’s great-great-great grandfather. Fast forward to today: we're following in our family's footsteps, making wines with regional and varietal expression in both of our home regions: the Adelaide Hills of South Australia and the Finger Lakes of New York State. With two harvests each year, we're able to make a wide range of styles with maximum quality and minimal inputs. We source grapes from different vineyards and growers, including from both of our families, and generally focus on rich whites and sparklings in New York and vibrant reds in South Australia.

Winemaker Bio
Sebastian Hardy is a sixth generation winemaker who grew up in his dad’s vineyards, particularly in the Kuitpo subregion of the Adelaide Hills. After high school, Seb worked several vintages in Australia and across Europe, and got a degree in Viticulture and Oenology in Adelaide, with an exchange in California. After working in roles across winemaking, viticulture, retail sales and distribution, Seb was ready to start a project of his own with his wife Colleen, focusing on small batch, sustainable and innovative winemaking.
