Wine Description
Our Single Block Koonunga Ancestor Vine Shiraz from the 2021 vintage comesfrom our Ancestor Shiraz block in Koonunga in the Northern reaches of theBarossa Valley. Now part of the extensive Hoffmann Family portfolio, thisblock was thought to have been planted in the 1860s or 1870s but no formalrecords exist.
The wine has all the hallmarks of a Northern Barossa Shiraz in an excellentseason - bright purple red hue, powerful black and blue fruits, full bodied, thedense fruit balanced by abundant natural tannins. An incredible wine from awonderful season. The ancestor vines made the most of the season. This wineis well integrated already but has ample tannin to carry it forward for manyyears to come. A cellaring special!
