Wine Description
Named after Ed who has been the head of the family business since the tender age of 16. Produced from grenache bush vines planted in 1916 and 1925 grown high in the South Eastern foothills of the Barossa Valley. Overlapping layers of morello cherries, red currents, dark plums and savoury spice. Wrapped in a soft, fine tannin frame. Vibrant, balanced and moreish.
Winemaker's Bio
Scott Hazeldine joined Schild Estate in 2009 bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.Born and raised in Malawi, Scott was educated in the UK but lured to Australia by a love of wine culture. He worked throughout the Barossa Valley before joining Bordeaux based “garagiste” producer Jonathan Maltus in his Australian operation Colonial Estate.
Seasoning his experience with time in Saint Emilion, Bordeaux and Napa Valley Scott has brought to Schild Estate an excitement and passion for winemaking that simultaneously honours traditions worthy of working with some of the world’s oldest vines whilst maintaining enthusiasm for continuous discovery.
