Masterclass presenters
Emma Symington MW
Emma Symington MW has worked in the wine trade for 18 years with previous roles including selling and buying wine. She is now Wine Australia’s Head of Education EMEA, organising and hosting a series of tastings, seminars and masterclasses to increase enthusiasm and knowledge in Australia’s wines and wine regions. After winning the Vintners' Cup and Vintners' Scholarship for the top WSET Diploma graduate in 2011, Emma embarked on the Master of Wine course, becoming an MW in 2015. A WSET-certified educator, Emma judges at several international wine competitions and won the Emerging Wine Writer category in the 2014 Louis Roederer Awards.
Paul McArdle
Paul McArdle is CEO of Overstory, a family-owned Australian wine business with vineyards in Tasmania and Margaret River. Overstory’s brands include Small Wonder in Tasmania, as well as Wayfinder and Swell Season in Margaret River.
With over three decades in the industry, Paul’s career has spanned wholesale, consulting, sales, marketing, and senior leadership roles across a range of Australian wine businesses. He passed the notoriously tough tasting component of the UK Master of Wine exam in 2003 and remains a regular presenter at trade tastings, masterclasses, and international wine events.
Paul also heads up Small Story Merchants, an import and distribution business, with offices based in Australia and Singapore. Small Story Merchants champions family-owned and sustainably minded producers from Australia and Europe.
Nick Hunter
Originally from Marlborough, wine has always been in Nick Hunter’s blood, now too it is an integral part of his identity. After studying Commerce and Horticulture at Lincoln University, he has worked in every level of the wine industry, from planting and developing vineyards for his family in Marlborough and Central Otago to managing large-scale operations across multiple regions.
Nick brings a love of wine, a passion for sustainability, and an enduring positive outlook to the team. His role as General Manager sees him directing and driving daily operations to achieve Te Kano's overarching vision and legacy.
