Wine Description
This blend of Grenache & Tempranillo is a McLaren Vale take on a traditional Spanish blend. It is a food-friendly, versatile, medium-bodied wine.
The Grenache and Tempranillo were picked and fermented separately. Immediately after pressing, we determine the ideal ratios of Grenache and Tempranillo to maintain the vibrant fruit-forward style of the G&T. For this vintage, we chose a blend of 70% Grenache & 30% Tempranillo.
The wine was matured in oak for only 12 months. This relatively simple and minimal winemaking approach produces a vibrant, soft and food-friendly wine — a vibrant, zippy wine with a fine tannin structure.
Winemaker's Bio
Chris Thomas became DOWIE DOOLE's Chief Winemaker in 2011. Over his winemaking career, he has gained a wealth of experience working for wineries, including Fox Creek and Serafino Wines in McLaren Vale also Domaine Changarnier in Burgundy.
Wine Australia acknowledged Chris' commitment and passion for Australian wine in 2019; he graduated from the Wine Australia Future Leaders Programme.
