Winery Overview
Negociants International represents celebrated family-owned and independent producers from across Australia and New Zealand, each crafting their wines with uncompromising dedication to quality and regional nuance.
The business was formally established in 1985 by the Hill-Smith family, proprietors of Australia’s oldest family-owned winery, Yalumba.
The Hill-Smith family’s contributions to winemaking began in 1849, with a moonlit vine planting by Samuel Smith and his young son Sidney. Fiercely independent, Yalumba today proudly showcases the best of the Barossa. Progressive and committed to looking after the land and its people, Yalumba acknowledges that the reputation of their wine is only as good as the next bottle a customer drinks. So they put the same attention to detail into every bottle of wine they make, regardless of variety, quantity or price.
More than 170 years after Samuel and Sidney planted their first vines, their descendants continue to choose vineyard locations that are best suited to individual grape varieties. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Tasmania, Riesling in Eden Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon in Margaret River and Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough. These wines of provenance contribute a distinctly Australian and New Zealand flavour to the old world ideology of terroir. Together the collection is known as Hill-Smith Family Vineyards, and you will recognise celebrated individual names such as Pewsey Vale Vineyard, Jansz Tasmania, Dalrymple Vineyards and Nautilus Estate.
Today Negociants International is also pleased to represent other leading producers shaping the future of Australian and New Zealand wines – both established winemaking families and first generation talent. While each distinct in their nature and approach, they are likeminded in their devotion to producing exceptional wines for every channel or occasion.
A private label service is also available through partner Free Run Juice.
Negociants International is headquartered in Angaston, in the heart of the world-famous Barossa wine region. The team includes dedicated representatives for the United Kingdom, EMEA, United States, Canada, and Asia Pacific supporting import partners in all major and emerging markets.
Many producers in the portfolio enjoy widespread international distribution. Opportunities to grow or supplement that network are continually invited.
