Rieslingfreak No.55 is a showcase of our Clare Valley vineyards; our family vineyard from White Hutt, and the Jaeschke family from Polish Hill River. This wine is an off-dry expression of the finely balanced compatibility between the inherent richness and generosity of the fruit from the family vineyard in White Hutt, and the lean, mineral-driven elegance of the fruit from Polish Hill River. The natural sweetness of this off-dry style adds an unctuous richness to the mid-palate, while the driving natural acidity imparts a crisp, clean finish.
Winemaker's Bio
As the name would suggest, John is a freak for all things Riesling. Growing up on the family vineyard in the beautiful Clare Valley, John believed it was only natural that he had an appreciation for the Riesling variety from a young age. And as he grew up, so did his passion for Riesling.
Once old enough to really appreciate a quality Riesling, he found a new appreciation for many European Rieslings. To this day, John still keeps an eye on German winemaking techniques and enjoys referencing their style for inspiration so he can apply it to the Rieslingfreak collection.
